Well....

I  have been meaning to post, I really have.  I have had a sick kiddo since Christmas and  in the month following  we made 4 trips to the er - two from the camp he attended out of town the week between Christmas and New Years and he was hospitalized once.... so  I have been a little busy with doctors appointments and tests and scans and etc. He had a GI scope which was a party mostly due to the anesthesia - let me tell you.  I will post on that later.  I will just say I am so glad I wasn't alone with the boy in recovery.  For all intents and purposes he is 6'5 and wasn't too intent on staying in the bed, but couldn't master sitting up straight or anything else for awhile.

We had the " ice storm " here in the Houston area, which didn't materialize quite the way it was prophesied by the Meteorologist. We had another round of cold weather aka ARTIC BLAST - but picture those words the way they are displayed on TV  in  ALL CAPS complete  ith icicles hanging off of them  - that presents  a much more dramatic effect.  Cause All CAPS ice blue lettering just doent give the full effect of the impending doom that is the ARTIC WINDS set to invade Texas and prettymuch end all life as we know it...   At 2pm yesterday,  it was 24 degrees according to my vehicle, which is pretty smart. We were without power from 3pm until after 8pm? I am not exactly sure when power was restored.  Cold, dark and hungry, I decided to hibernate and I slept thru the return of  glorious electricity.  When I got up this am  it was 24 degrees with windchill feeling like 15 degrees.  I have a friend in the Netherlands and it is warmer there ...  it is suppose to get into the 40's today.  I just checked  at noaa.gov.  The high is suppose to be 42, this afternoon and tonight 21. Humm, means probably no power this evening due to the agency in charge of buying power for Texas.

South East Texas is just not suppose to be that cold y'all...

Maybe if I have power  later I will post about The almost fire at  The Walmarts later.

it will be worth a return trip, I promise.

Artichoke Tapenade, Anyone ?

So I am sitting here at my desk, staring at this huge jar. I mean,  a really huge jar.  That picture just doesnt do it justice.

You could go bowling with this jar... except it is filled with  Artichoke Tapenade.  Immediately after I think about the bowling possibility, I immediately mentally flip to the next scenario... which is the enormous mess  it would create and how would you get that out of all the crevices around the pins.    I

have never worked at a bowling alley so I cant even imagine where the concern for tapenade dripping  everywhere comes from... except for the mom gene...

So, since bowling appears to be ruled out, what would you use it for?   I think I should get a gold star for spelling it correctly... seriously.

I  am pretty sure this blog post is the first time that the word tapenade has been involved in any thought I have had.   So, what would you do with this ginormous jar of creamy goodness?

That's IT!

Ok..... this is sooo not fair. I'm an ok height.... now width? Umm let's save that for later. 5'8 - decent.

Didn't ever think I would feel short.....

till my baby walked up between the neighbor & I while we were chattin'. She looks right at him, and said " Well, now your taller then me! And I'm 5'8." I do a double take.....Yep, here he grows again!

How, can I give him "the eyebrow"? I just don't think it is gonna be as effective when he is looking down at me... Good Gracious.... we havent even made it to 8th grade yet...

Maybe I can try stilts...So not gonna work - I think that one defies the laws of physics... or Tom Cruise style wedges..nah. I'd turn an ankle.

Help.

Redirection.....

I hadn't blogged in awhile. I knew that. I didn't realize how long it had been....
You see.... I finally got one kid driving... which made an incredible difference, but that same one graduated and is a college student now..... Just for fun I am going to post a page of my schedule before hand.. It needs to be preserved for posterity.. so when I get old and rock on my porch and wish for more excitement - I can reconsider and think... HA.maybe not!

so now I run.... still..... but it is to my jobs ( of which there is more than one) to pay for tuition.... and 200.00 books.... Geez.

Funny......

The 12 yr old is something else.....

His sister and I were standing by him, and were talking about how she wished she had my parents room in our house instead of her room. I said sure, it had a half bath and a nice walk in closet..... instead of the wall closets they both have.

B.W. is walking by and says - " I have a walk in closet.... I can walk in, I just can't walk out of it!

Isn't that the truth Momma's?

"Gec Ba N er ha a menit" aka Mom speak version # 84

Jumped back in the car to run an errand earlier, and realized that there are so many different versions of mom talk. Moms usually do many things at once and talking while their hands, mouths and/or both are one of them. I pulled into the parking space and after my daughter opened the door, the cold gust of wind blew in and I didn't let the fact that I had my hand full putting my hair into a fresh ponytail and my cell phone in my mouth stop me. As I was attempting to communicate it flashed into my head how ridiculous I must look -and sound. Tip- if you are target of such conversation tactics, refrain from mentioning how silly we sound, as clueless as you think we are-we are aware of this. Oh, and - if you are the target of the conversation - just go along with it and act like we're making perfect sense.
