What do you say?

My son hasn't seen his dad for awhile.  He recently got to see him at the Ms Walk and  it was quite a shock to see how he had been affected by this disease.   My 20 year old almost lost it a couple of times, I am really proud of her for holding it together as she did.   I guess my ex husband has been feeling really ill and didn't want  Brandon to see how he was. He did however get to go home with them after the walk and stayed overnight and was picked up the next evening. He was silent the whole car ride home ( 45 minutes)   He came home and retreated into him room and wouldn't talk to anyone.  He stayed to himself the next couple of days.  I don't know what to say or how to help him process this.  My parents were ill a lot  growing up, but I was accustomed to it.   Anyone?

MS Walk

The sky was spitting at us, but there was a good turn out as we headed inside the mall for our walk.   Our team raised over $3000.

Sundays Adventure

from csnstores.com  they are a compilation of over 200 stores

The heat in South Texas combined with the humitidy is enough to .... well,  I will let you fill in the blank.
Anyway, regardless of the heat I wasnt  going to pass up the opportunity for my son to take his first glider flight ( or any flight)  yesterday.  The boy has never been up in a plane, period, or out of Texas.  I think I can safely say he has never been north of Dallas, or west of Luling.  Here are a few shots of the experience that he took... bless his heart, his knees were up around his chest. After it  was over all he could do was grin from ear to ear.  He is fourteen and had to keep up appearances but he did describe it as "stupid sick".

Getting ready to fly

Tow line connected and waiting for take off as another glider comes in overhead for a landing - remember the size of that line. This facility has a nice covered patio where you can watch out of the direct heat of the sun. So most of the parents are waiting there.

We have liftoff!  I had liftoff also about this point, but it was liftoff of my stomach.  It was a mix of excitement when I saw my son in the front seat of the glider, followed by that mild nausea when you see the size of the rope that is holding my son in the air.   That passes quickly, and he was in excellent hands.

Gaining altitude

Look Mom! No tow plane

the view out the vent window.  I am standing just outside of the building right there watching the approach.

Turning  and getting ready to land

He took an awesome video.  Since the instructors takeoff and land he was able to document both. I will see if I can post it separately since it isnt loading.

Brandon was able to do this due to being a member of the Civil Air Patrol Cadets.  If you have a kid interested in avaiation,  I was just told by one of the other parents about the Young Eagles,  On their website, their objective is listed as follows "Our mission is to provide a meaningful flight experience – free of charge – in a general aviation aircraft for young people primarily between the ages of 8 and 17."  I hope to look into that very soon.

Under Destruction? Reconstruction? Maybe that should read Construction

The blog and me. yep, both. And just like real life, I don't always know what I am doing... or how to do everything right. I didn't have any fear when I clicked that HTML button, not like real life. I added a music player at the bottom, so if it isn't playing already, scroll down and check it out- cause I thing there are some really great songs on it. I took this picture of Brandon in the bluebonnets this past Easter Resurrection Sunday. He turned 14 in February.

There he is... my "little" man. I'm sure he'll get in trouble every chance he can... I pray to God, that when he does, I can be just as understanding as my Father was. Cause the last thing that I want to do is let Him down, so instead of being angry, I'm gonna throw my arms around them and I'll say: In the sunlight or the rain, brightest nights or darkest days, I'll always - feel the same way. Whatever road you may be on, know you're never too far gone. My love is there, whatever you may be.

Just remember , that you'll always be my babies.( Hey - Bubba -Yes I am aware that I just come up to your armpit now, but you're still my baby.and you're still grounded. Love, Mom) .

Update: A Request

Original post here

As I was making phone calls yesterday, I dialed the wrong number off of the list I was given. I was told they thought the other lady's condition was improving...don't stop- please continue to pray. Thank you, Lord Please continue to watch over her and her family and any that come in contact with them.

Alyssa was very nauseated yeserday and couldn't keep her pain medicine down, we just returned from a 2nd night in the ER. Was dehydrated but after iv fluids and pain meds, the staff was able to finally get a little blood after 10 or so sticks- hands arm, feet. After that and another exam, and more tests, they don't see signs of internal bleeding, or concussion...and think the nausea was just result of the medication. We'll see an Ortho Wednesday. She still thinks she is going to work Tuesday & school Tuesday night. Off to check on her and take a little nap.
Thank you Lord.

A Request.

My child's in pain.(Read here.)

This is the child who has never had a day of detention, let alone a broken bone. This is my child that goes to college, works full time, and has two part time jobs...

This is my sweet girl that wanted to be a vet from the age of 5 when we saw a flattened squirrel on the road during a post Thanksgiving Day Dinner walk. She thought she needed to give it CPR. I was able to catch her before she reached him. Her career goals have changed but her heart hasn't.

The broken collarbone, the assortment of "goose eggs" all over her body, the minor cuts and scratches & the slivers of glass we are picking out of her are all temporary.

The speed limit on the road was 60mph. I asked the state trooper if there were skid marks, and he said no.

She is able to feel her injuries - Thank you Lord; as I can't imagine the alternative.

I am grateful that the fire dept and ems were so close... I think they were at the scene in less then two minutes. I am grateful for her co-worker from the vet clinic that was at the scene of the accident shortly thereafter. Thank you Lord for sending such skilled people to tend to my child.
I haven't told her the other driver was transferred. She was very upset when she realized she was in her 70's. When should I tell her?
As a Momma I have done all I can for my sweet Alyssa, making sure she has her medicine through the night, and is as comfortable as can be.... I have no control over the situation, or the other driver - but I can request prayer. I don't know her name, all I know is the collision was in Fulshear TX on FM 359 at approx 5:30 pm central Saturday, but every prayer is greatly appreciated. Please Lord, be with her and her family.
Thank you,

Alyssa's Momma
