cats....are crazy; but kittens are psycho

was in the car.... again. Went to pick up dd from work at the kennel. it was getting cold and dark. she ran to the car with something in her arms.... a spare passenger..... a kitten. um yea.

the traffic on the road had scared it and it was cold and hungry. so we brought it home & put it in a crate with some food/water and a disposable aluminum pan as a littler box. posted it on freecycle to find a new home for it as there are not any residences close by.

this thing is a trip, lol. the dog got to come in last night as it was suppose to get to 32 degrees. he is doing his best to ignore the kitten, however since she is a psycho kitty, it is a little hard. the kitten who would fuzz up and FFFZTTT! at the dog from 5 ft away has now morphed into kitty kamikazi warrior mode and thinks she is going to pounce on the dog and conquor it. poor dog, he just turns his head slowly.

They Did it Again!

Whoop! Another mom just called me from the car.... on the way back from our h.s. football team playoff game. Score was 66-21. We're going to state - Baby!

Now that is a road trip I wouldn't mind. We play Pflugerville in the State playoffs next weekend.

The Moose steals Christmas.......

is over. DS -the big bad wolf made an appearance and it went ok...... being add/adhd he had to add a little impromptu dancing on the state, but we made it thru ok. The pastor emailed the pics to us in adobe or I would post some with the blog. The highlight was 3 of the elder men at the church dressed as tooth fairy's in pink tights, shorts and assorted glitter and boas.... complete with cowboy boots. Oh yea, they are as great as you imagine.
The gist was that the Moose, Marty who makes an appearance every Sunday morning in a skit for the kids ( and the adults) steals all of the holidays and assorted characters from literature and fairy tales. There was a dancing chicken, the wicked witch and Dorothy, Goldilocks and the three bears, Darth Vader ( my older ds none the less) a 6' 4 leprechaun, and a group of singing cows , two angels and Joseph, Mary & Jesus. The characters were all freed as Jesus died on the cross to save all of us from our sins.

Pear Cobbler

DD had to do a report for food nutrition class picking a fruit or vegetable and then prepare a dish for the class. She chose the pear, and then poured over recipes online looking for the perfect one. Something that was going to be tasty , but economical to make. She finally selected one and chose a pear cobbler. She started preparing it last night and boy did the house smell great. The boys walked in from Christmas play practice and it immediately got their attention.

Today was the moment of truth. How would her classmates receive this culinary dish? It was very well received. Everyone was saying how good it was. She picked up the pan before the last period and took it to the class with her. One of the kids in the class asked for a sample and took a bite as the teacher began talking. He yelled out "Oh Mi Gosh! this is the best stuff ever!"

Well, there wasn't much left in the pan, not even a proper bite, so I have to say it is highly reccomended by the teenage demographic. Here is the recipe and the link to the site she found it on.

Easy Pear Cobbler
1 box yellow cake mix,
1 stick butter melted
1 large can sliced pears in heavy syrup
ground ginger or nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Pour pears with syrup into an oblong baking pan. Sprinkle cake mix evenly over pears. Drizzle melted butter over cake mix. Lightly sprinkle with ginger. Bake for 35 minutes or until bubbly. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

I reccommended she use ginger, and she chose cool whip to top it with, YUM! Not bad. Will deffinately make an appearance again. It is really easy to make and pretty good as well. ( and oh yeah - the crust that forms on the side of the pan is some of the best part, so dont skip it!)

T-Day!

was different as 2/5ths of our family was gone ( see yesterdays post) , and some had to work. We were unable to leave town because of work commitments, so we decided to go to Luby's ! When we got there there were about 60 people in front of us, and it took about 45 minutes before we got to select our food, but it was a nice lunch. DH for some reason likes this baked fish they have there that has a thick white topping on top if it -and then if available he takes grey poupon and and adds this to the topping which is something like a mayonnaise- I.m telling you it is good, but there ought to be a low against warm mayonnaise - it just seems wrong!. DD and I had Turkey & dressing. I enjoyed a beautiful salad with the great italian dressing, cabbage with tidbits of bacon(yum) sweet potato's, and pecan pie. Of course I had cranberry sauce too :) and when I left a warm cup of coffee to take the chill out of the air. Great food, great company and no clean up! Sigh - wonderful!

MOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!

In order for my rambelings to make sense you need to read this post and the next one in time order, in other words backwards :D

"(11/20/07 tues after school: "pack your bag now." so you dont have to do it tomorrow." this am - "is your bag ready?" UMMMM, I uh dont have a bag. )
Umm - time is of the essence here - I have been fielding calls all week from "the others" to estimate my arrival time into the drop zone. well, now it is "I get there when I get there."

well before i even get out of the house, the trip and passengers are growing. take one to school, fill up truck. rush back pick up the other two , head to school - take corner on two wheels to try to beat the tardy bell. At least when they are in high school they have stopped screaming and just hang on :) then go back home get ready pick up the 1st one tke to houston to doctor, rush back , pick up other kids, for early dismissal,. fight the crowd like a salmon swimming upstream to get INTO the school on a holiday early dismissal day to trek to the principals office to pay fine for and retrieve a cell phone that was taken up yesterday. get back to the car, go by the house allowing 3 minutes to pick up "the bag" get last load of undershirts out of dryer and add to clothes crammed in bag ( betya a dollar that they are wadded in there.........yep i won that one.) knowing that 1/2 of all clothing in said will never return. Up to this point , had a couple of calls and found the other ds was getting to go vist his dad for the holiday - the kicker was were we going to be able to complete the "hand off" lol. so quickly let ds grab clothes to take in the event that this can happen. get back in the car drop the 2 extra passengers at the mall, get onthe road to meet his Uncle to take him the rest of the way to his mothers for Thanksgiving. Stop on the way after several calls, Meet the XH at a gas station , gt back on the road and continue. Get there........... andwait. and....wait some more. Turn around, come back thru Houston ( IS there time for a Chachos shrimp taco? - gotta love a drive thru) Pick up the kids at the mall, drop one off at work, then take the other one home, then home myself..... then phase two kicks in , lol.

MOM! MOOOOOM!!!!!! - MOTHERRRR!

If I have neglected to mention it before I have "Numbius Heinnifferous Syndrome" It is a variety of the Heiney Numbius Trappedious Syndrome. The term heinnifferous is typically reserved for those that have larger areas affected. It only flares up occasionally, and today is going to be one of those days. There is not much funding for research but the leading cause is thought to be lenghtly time trapped behind the wheel shuttling passengers and cargo.

I have to get kids to school. Then pick one up from school take him, into the city for a doctors appointment then rush back, picking up the others as today is early dismissal for thanksgiving, then drive one to meet their uncle out past the south side of Houston so he can ride with him to visit his mom for thanksgiving. Back home, then locate dd and take her to work. YEEHAW! It going to be a 300 miler for sure. Now in frequent mom miles - that has got to be worth at least 5 minutes alone in the bathroom uninterrupted. Somewhere, during the day, I know that my cell phone is going to ring non stop espicially if I get slowed down by traffic. And what about when you are zipping down the road and turn up a catchy tune, to not hear the cell phone ring. Why do they offer us all of these different varieties of ring tones? They really should just give us a ring tone that starts out MOM! MOOOOOMMMMM! MOTHERRRRRRR! We know it well.

So if this has touched your hearts in any way feel free to make a donation to combat Numbius Heinefferous Syndrome. Send all contributions to me and they will go toward emancipating a young driver in my area. lol.
I am off and running!

"You want who to do what? "

We we sitting in church yesterday morning, and the Pastor came by and talked to my son briefly. He asked if he wanted to help with the Christmas program. Something with the puppets..... Humm. an 11 year old boy with Adhd -impulsivity issues and too much energy - anyone see any potential problems with this? I am sure hilarity is going to ensue.

Sunday Dinner after Church

Well, today we had a dinner in the fellowship hall after church. It was to celebrate Thanksgiving, and also it was Mr. Ellis's birthday - he is the oldest man in the church , such a soft spoken man that is always ribbed for his age.
I really havent been cooking as of late, so I have to admit to picking up a couple of vegetable trays and an angel food cake before we headed out to church this am.
It was nice. It took me back to a time when we would have 5th Sunday dinners after church. That was always such a big deal to me as a kid. Of course, the fellowship hall then was twice as big easily. I remember the line would stretch out the door into the hallway and into the auditorium ,and someimes out into the vestibule. I loved to see what everyone had made - a little glimpse into their culinary styles and to be able to sit at the long tables and visit with friends.

Sunday Part 1

Well. I was already looking forward to the dinner after church and I could see that most people were focused on that, it was even mentioned in the service. To my surprise my 11 year old was actually listening to the sermon. He decided that he needed to talk to the pastor. That was a wonderful thing. The pastor will be spending time to speak with him over the next few weeks. I am thankful for that.

How to become a millionaire

I feel silly- I thought they were talking about the game show...... is that the right name? nope. lol.
Anyway after church every Sunday the youth are trying to do an activity. I thought maybe they were going to play a game when I saw it on the schedule of events. They had 2 ex missionaries that are now back in the states doing financial planning come and give a brief talk on becoming a millionaire. They gave each family a financial workbook - which is really nice was was valued at $14.95. Covered the rule of 72, what a pitfall student credit card debt is, investing, turning hobbies into ways to make money or make a difference.

cordless phone range? forget it -how about "mom range"?

Called a friend of mine today and she was getting ready to walk out the door. she grabbed her husbands lunch, her toddler etc. and the conversation continued. All of a sudden she said - "I wondered why my phone was loosing the signal". She had walked out the door on the cordless phone and was driving down the street before she realized it. Of course I didn't admit this but I so did this about 4 weeks ago.

Running out the door...... again.

Your mileage may vary.......

Hi,

Welcome to my blog. I sit here typing, but I should be getting ready to get in the car...... again. Kids to pick up, drop off, it never ends. Wish there was a frequent mom mileage program. I am fortunate enough to be able to work at home, so I get to drive my kids to and from school everyday and everywhere else from jobs to the mall, the movies and more.

While I realize that I am no longer cool in the eyes of my passengers; I haven't been relegated to picking them up and dropping them off a block away either. But hey, make sure you turn down the radio if she is in the car. It doesn't matter if it was a song that she was listening to on an popular station. You cannot have any music escape the vehicle when the doors are open or about to open. Hey - they tell me the music is too loud. That's funny. Isn't it suppose to be the other way around? One thing I have found, is that talk radio is really annoying to highschoolers. Even if you catch a spirited program with a great topic. Every once in a while they get in and hear something that catches their interest and we get to have a brief conversation. The oldest ones have issues with my driving too. Hey, if you want me do get you to school in 4 minutes and it is a 7 minute commute, don't question my methods. Life was much simpler when they just got in and hung on.

Anyway, you are welcome to join me on my journey.
