Remember that game? Someone should have told us to play it with our kids....
"Mother, may I grow two inches taller than you? Me: "No, you may not." It might have worked...
or..."Mother, May I grow into such a beautiful, young woman that it is scary and will cause you much worry? Me: "No, you may not." The one on the right?
Darth Vader? Don't even get me started. Genetically, he isn't mine...but emotionally, he has been blended with my heart...
Having a "smoothie" family makes it interesting (
read... difficult) and tough at times. I think the term smoothie sums it up wonderfully... Take several different personalities & their idiosyncronies, complete with past experiences ("up-sized") & also expectations( jumbo size). Stir & enjoy! It may look a little rough during the blending, but it turns out great in the end - so I'm told. I'm still stiring...but my arm's tired.
*SIGH* Yes you may..... If you are reading this as the parent of one the potty training bunch, you are probably remembering how you held your breath as they took their first steps.... and exhaled after they made their wobbley way to their destination. Well - all I can say is grab a paper lunch sack momma's .. they come in handy. Breathe slowly, in and out, that's it.
I like the "smoothie" description for your family. That's cool! (yes, pun intended). Loved both of your pictures of your kids as little ones and then as teenagers - looks like you've done a great job!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I can't even imagine! Though you reminded me I need to enjoy more time with them now because they do grow fast! Jen
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy :D Like the pun :D
ReplyDeleteJen,
So true. I swear that little picture of the both of them was just taken like .... 5 years ago....
And your parents too... as you miss them tremendously when they are gone.....the hardest part is not picking up the phone and telling the cool/funny/amazing or aggravating thing the kids just did.
